This Is Why We Close Our Eyes When We Kiss

Lips

Haven’t you ever wondered why we close our eyes when we kiss?

Of course, there’s always those reasons of habit and wanting to be polite/not stare, but there has to be more, right?

According to a study in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, humans like to focus on one stimulus at a time. When it comes to our senses, we are more simple than perhaps we’d like to believe. When more than one of our senses are stimulated, your brain has to manage them all at once, which could water down each individual sensation.

What does this have to do with kissing? Simple. When we kiss, we close our eyes so that we can fully focus on the sense of touch. The lips are one of the most sensitive places on the body, and it’s worth enjoying. It’s also like when we sometimes close our eyes when we hear a song we love.

Plus, whenever I open my eyes during a kiss, I tend to go cross eyed. And that’s not the best kiss-inducing look.

So go close your eyes and enjoy a kiss!
